My Experience at the NEW STORIES Exhibition at Galerie de Ploegh

From July 13 to August 23, 2023, I was thrilled to participate in the NEW STORIES exhibition at Galerie de Ploegh in Amersfoort. This exhibition marked the introduction of 11 new artist members, each bringing unique narratives and perspectives from various corners of the world. It was an enriching experience to collaborate with such a diverse group of artists.

A standout moment for me was meeting Palestinian artist Mohammad Abou Chair, who showcased his powerful short film, "A Short Movie of an Olive Tree." This poignant film explores the identity of an anonymous human in search of soil and home, intertwined with the symbolism of an olive tree. His story profoundly moved me and emphasized the universal quest for belonging and connection to our roots.

I was also deeply inspired by the work of Carry van Doorn, who creates captivating pieces using layers of diffused fabric on plexiglass panels. Her artworks are meticulously crafted with acrylic paint, airbrush techniques, incisions, shapes, and folds, creating mesmerizing textures that invite contemplation. Carry's exploration of layering and transparency aligns with my own artistic journey, where I seek to convey different perspectives through my art.

The NEW STORIES exhibition allowed me to share my personal journey through art and engage visitors in a meaningful dialogue. The showcased pieces included a variety of media—paintings, photography, digital works, and 3D printed sculptures—creating a rich tapestry of artistic expression.

What struck me most was how stories have evolved to become visual images we can share and experience together. This exhibition highlighted the importance of connecting through art and encouraged visitors to reflect on their own perspectives and stories.

I am grateful for the opportunity to exhibit alongside such talented artists and be part of this inspiring event. If you missed the NEW STORIES exhibition, stay tuned for more upcoming art events at Galerie de Ploegh and beyond that celebrate diverse artistic voices. Thank you to Galerie de Ploegh for hosting this impactful exhibition!
