Lieke Marleen van Kalken is a multidisciplinary artist based in the Netherlands, working under the name lilxlylilxly. Her work playfully explores the concept of perspective, combining techniques such as silkscreen printing, collage, digital and analog photography, and abstract painting. A graduate of the Willem de Kooning Academy in 2017, Lieke initially worked as a commercial photographer and visual designer before rediscovering her passion for autonomous art in 2021.
Her art reflects a deep fascination with perception, often creating optical illusions and layering materials to explore the delicate balance between the organic and the artificial. Key themes in her work include the calming power of nature, the diversity of human perspective, and the impact of attention on how we experience the world. Through series like A.R.T., Mijn Oma is een Vlinder, and It’s Just the Way You Look at Things, she invites viewers to slow down, reflect, and engage with art as a process of discovery. Lieke’s works have been exhibited internationally, and she continues to evolve her practice while celebrating the richness of diverse perspectives.
